International Training on “Risk Management”

Successfully Held in Beijing

Recently, NIFA, in collaboration with the Luxembourg House of Training – a renowned institution for international cooperation and training in the field of financial technology in Luxembourg – jointly held two sessions of the international training program titled “Risk Management: Asset & Liability Management” in Beijing. Mr. Ma Chao, Secretary-General of NIFA, and Mr. Luc Scholtes, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Luxembourg in China, delivered opening remarks at the start of the first training session.
In his speech, Secretary-General Ma Chao extended a warm welcome to the participants and expressed hope that the training would facilitate greater sharing of financial expertise and international best practices. He emphasized NIFA’s willingness to work together with its member institutions and stakeholders across various sectors to promote the healthy and orderly development of the digital finance industry. Mr. Luc Scholtes expressed his appreciation to NIFA for organizing the training and noted the long-standing cooperation between relevant parties in Luxembourg and NIFA. He highlighted the history of mutual visits and successful joint initiatives between the two sides, which have received positive feedback. He also conveyed Luxembourg’s readiness to maintain friendly communication and cooperation with NIFA to further promote meaningful international exchange activities.
To enhance the effectiveness of the training, NIFA solicited feedback from its member institutions during the preparatory phase and worked closely with the Luxembourg side to design the course outline in detail. The program offered a systematic introduction to Asset-Liability Management (ALM), covering topics such as the role of the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCo) and the Basel Committee’s regulatory framework for interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB), along with related EU topics. Most of the participants were from banks, insurance companies, consumer finance firms, and payment institutions. During the training, attendees engaged in in-depth discussions with the expert, drawing upon their own practical experiences in risk management. Many expressed the hope that NIFA would organize more such training programs in the future, especially those that incorporate more international case studies. Upon completion of the training, participants received joint certificates issued by NIFA and the Luxembourg House of Training.
